COVID-19 Update & Latest

Posted on 12th June 2020 by

We’ve now been re-open for face to face appointments for 3 weeks now, so thought we’d give a little update about where we are and our latest news and answer a few questions that we’ve been asked.

Q: I don’t need an appointment urgently and want to make sure I give priority to someone in urgent need, so I’m not sure whether I should book?

A: We are gradually returning our team off of furlough as demand for appointments increases. We want to get the whole team back to work as soon as possible, and can respond quickly. So, don’t worry about availability. We can guarantee appointments for any urgent cases and have availability for those less urgent too.

Q: What services are you currently offering in the clinic?

A: We are currently able to offer physiotherapy and 1-2-1 Pilates face to face. We are keeping a close eye on the guidance and will introduce other services ASAP.

Q: Im a little confused. In a couple of weeks time, I will be able to get my hair cut or a tattoo done. But there is no mention of sports massages returning. Surely, maintaining physical health is more important ?

A: We totally agree and we’d love to be able to offer sports massage and currently have a huge demand building. Unfortunately, we are governed by our Clinicians’ professional body’s guidance and their insurance cover. So at present, they are not deeming sports massage as essential or urgent care and are therefore not enabling us to provide this. We have to follow the guidance available to us at this time. We are hoping that this will change by early July and we can start offering sports massage then. We will keep everyone updated ASAP.

Q: What team members do you currently have working at the clinic?

A: We currently have Paul (our Clinical Director), Hugo (Senior Physiotherapist & ) and Katie (Practice Manager) at the clinic. Roz (Senior Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor) is returning from Monday 15th June.

Q: Will I come into contact with other people when I come for an appointment?

A: As you can see from our measures below (read more here), we have taken lots of steps to try and minimise any contact with others. The waiting room isn’t being used, we have staggered appointments (with extra time between appointments), bookings are made by your Clinician and payments are made online. We really feel grateful that we have a large, spacious clinic with dedicated gym and studio and 6 self contained treatment rooms to be able to work from.

Q: What are your opening hours?

A: As of Monday 15th June, these are our opening hours:

Q: I’m worried about going out and the risk of contracting COVID-19

A: We take the health and wellbeing of our team and community very seriously and have undertaken an extensive risk assessment and are following our latest professional guidance. Until there is a vaccine, it is almost impossible to completely eliminate the risk, but it is down to individuals to assess their own risk and follow guidance and make their own decisions. There come’s a point when physical, mental and economic health have also got to be a consideration.

Q: Do I have to have a virtual online appointment first?

A: No. We have recently revised our guidance and are now offering a telephone triage as an alternative, so that we can discuss your case and identify which path of care is most appropriate for you.

This lovely message put a smile on our faces……..

COVID-19 The Steps We’re Taking at goPhysio

We are all very aware of the impact that Coronavirus is having on our communities and the way in which we are going about our daily lives and making plans. It’s obviously a time of some uncertainty. However, please rest assured, we are following the latest official advice very carefully.

We wanted to reassure you that goPhysio are implementing measures in relation to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 as part of our duty of care to all our visitors and team.

Following official advice, goPhysio is continuing to operate as normal.

We have put in place the following extra precautions:

  • Hand sanitisers are available throughout the clinic. We encourage you to use this on entering and leaving the clinic.
  • Hand washing facilities are also available.
  • All equipment and high contact areas are being cleaned on a regular basis throughout the day with a clinical grade cleaner.

Please can we ask of you that:

  • If you develop symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath) that you do not attend the clinic and follow official advice.
  • If you have been in contact with anyone with a confirmed case of COVID-19 or have travelled from any of the target areas, again, please follow official advice.
  • As usual, if you are unwell in any other way, we ask that you look after yourself at home, to help minimise risk of any other illnesses.
  • Please provide as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment by calling us on 023 8025 3317.
  • If you attend our Pilates classes, please can you take extra time to wipe down the Pilates blocks and mats after every class with our clinical grade wipes.
  • Feel free to bring your own mats, cushions or towels to cover the blocks and mats in Pilates if you would prefer.

We are also putting in place a contingency plan should the situation change.

If you have any questions or concerns and would like to discuss these with us, please email mail@gophysiotherapy.co.uk or pilates@gophysiotherapy.co.uk for Pilates related concerns.
