Modified Pilates is an adaptation by physios of the original Pilates exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates that targets the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve overall central core stability and posture. Pilates exercises can also improve spinal mobility, increase flexibility of the key trunk and leg muscle groups and improve body and postural awareness.

Modified Pilates differs slightly to a normal Pilates class you may attend at the gym as it has been graded into different levels so that the physiotherapist can select the one most suited to the ability and fitness of each individual. This custom-made approach is suitable for those with clinical conditions or injuries, or those just wanting to tone-up or prepare for sport.
