At goPhysio, we are passionate about using our expertise, knowledge, resources and networks to support and create opportunities for our local community. Since 2001 we have become an integral part of the community. goPhysio's founders and Directors live in Chandlers Ford with their family and have strong ties with the local area.
Over the years we have supported many charities, individuals, local and national organisations and young people, in their fundraising efforts and community projects.
This year, we have chosen to direct our fundraising efforts for The Brain Tumour Charity. At the beginning of 2018, the 11 year old son of a very dear friend of goPhysio’s founders was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Brain tumours only receive 1% of government research funds, yet it is the second most prevalent of childhood cancers. Any fundraising events for 2018 will be in aid of this charity. You can donate towards our fundraising efforts here. We are aiming to reach a target of £1250, which funds just 1 day of research.
We host a range of free educational and practical events and seminars throughout the year for both the public and professionals. These include free taster sessions, educational talks to help inform people about injury prevtion, management and staying healthy. We also hold open days and opportunities for people to come in and 'pick the brains' of our experts!
Throughout the year, we offer work experience and work shadowing opportunities for students. This includes organised work experience placments for local schools and helping out for requests for work shadowing for students who have ambitions to become Physiotherapists. Work experience is a crucial part of the physiotherapy application process, so we feel it is an important part of the future of our profession. We also run workshops for students who are inteested in a career in physiotherapy, which we've called Physio Insight.
This year we are sponsoring local Chandlers Ford football team, St Francis Rovers, under 13s. As well as purchasing their much needed rain jackets, we provide physiotherapy for players (in great demand with this fast growing age group!).
In 2017, we set out to raise funds to install a public access defibrillator (AED) for the Bournemouth Road area of Chandlers Ford. Through a series of fundraising activities and generous donations from local businesses, we riased 50% of the funds required and goPhysio match funded the reaning amount. Read more about this here.
Throughout the year, we host external professional courses for local health professionals. Continued professional development (CPD) is a crucual part of offering the best possible and most up to date care. We are delighted to be able to share our space to offer these courses in the area.
For 2018, goPhysio are delighted to be the official Health Partner of the Eastleigh 10k. We are supporting many local runners in their amazing efforts by providing free events, seminars, workshops and will be there on the day offering massage and injury advice. Read more here.
