Achieve your goals! Learn lifelong running skills!

Book your place online here!

What does the programme include?

This unique programme is the perfect combination of a practical running programme with an experienced, qualified coach alongside an informative schedule of educational and practical sessions, structured to support your long term running journey.

The programme will run on a Wednesday evening from 6.30 – 8pm.

Week 1, 11the April –  Introduction to the running programme & getting to know you. This will include what to expect from the programme, outline of the training plan and a gauge of where you all are, so that the programme can be tailored accordingly. We will cover some key important issues in running, so that you can get the most from the programme and maintain lifelong love of running!

Weeks 2 – 9, 25th April – 13th June – These weekly sessions will include a 1 hour supervised run, including not only running but drills, technique, strength and conditioning work and more. There will also be a 30minute practical or educational workshop, covering a different topic each week. These sessions will include the following:

  • Warm up and cool down – dynamic stretching vs static stretching – why & how.
  • 10k Training – key components – interval training, threshold & tempo runs, hills, the long run and running easy.
  • Tapering and last week preparation.
  • Strength training for runners.
  • Foam rolling for runners.
  • Race day – hydration & fuelling, pacing for 10k, post race recovery
  • Pilates for runners.
  • Managing load & capacity, making sure you avoid injury.

By adding this unique, educational element, to your running programme, you will benefit from being able to ‘run better’ – avoiding injuries, achieving your goals and loving your running!

Why would I benefit from a supported running coach programme?

With access to so many online training plans, running apps, free running groups and with running training programmes in every magazine, Running Coaching can be seen as a luxury only needed for elite level athletes. Surely everyone can run anyway? It’s just a matter of how fast and how far! You just need a pair of trainers!

But think again! Recreational runners arguably benefit more from a structured running programme with a qualified, experienced Running Coach than those club level racing snakes!

Too many runners do the same run several times a week, run too hard too often, plateau and / or pick up an injury. These issues can really hamper enjoyment of running and progress and often cause people to give up on running. With the right education, guidance and support, we can help you avoid this.

Having a structured programme with a Coach will motivate you, challenge you when they think you can give more, but more often than not recognise when you need to back off and take it easy!  A Coach will structure your week so you include all the key components to make you a fitter, stronger and faster runner.

How much is the programme?

The 9 week programme costs £79. This will include:

  • Week 1 introductory session
  • Bespoke 8 week training programme based on 3 sessions per week
    • 8 x 1.5 hour weekly sessions with the Running Coach & goPhysio
    • 2 x homework sessions to do with the rest of your group or on your own in between
  • Support on creating more variety in your running, including hill sessions, interval training and strength & conditioning work, with lots of support and tips to help you build strength and speed throughout the sessions
  • Email support throughout the programme
  • 10% off at goPhysio for Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy or Sports Massage, should you need it

Who is this for?

This programme is suitable for those who are able to run at least 5k. Maybe you’re a Parkrun regular but aren’t sure how to get to the next level. You may have signed up to the Eastleigh 10k but heaved a sigh of relief when it got postponed as you weren’t ready. Maybe you’ve run comfortably on your own but now want some extra support in a group environment. Or it might be you’ve recently returned to running from an injury and want to make sure you are armed with the right skills and knowledge so you don’t get injured again?

Places are limited, please book your place here or to find out more or if you have any questions, email fiona@gophysiotherapy.co.uk

It’s so great to have so many fantastic running events in our local area. This weekend is the much anticipated Winchester Half. We have lots of patients, friends and family taking place in this local Hampshire event.

And who can guess what the main topic of discussion is in anticipation of this event?…….HILLS!

But don’t let that taint your excitement. Hill’s can be great and here’s a little reminder of some of the benefits of hills, courtesy of Rock Creek Runner.

Open Day Success!

Posted on 19th September 2017 by

We had a fantastic day on Saturday, as we welcomed so many people through our doors to experience many of the different services we have on offer here at goPhysio in Chandlers Ford, meet our team and find out more about our lifesaving defibrillator.

Visitors on the day took part in Pilates classes, our Active Backs classes for people who want to gain confidence again exercising with back pain, Positive Steps classes for the later years of life and Yoga with Marianne.

We were also delighted to offer free sports massage taster sessions, free injury advice clinics with our Physiotherapists & Sports Therapists and carried out lots of computerised foot analyses.

Linda, a local community first responder, kindly offered some basic CPR training and dispelled many myths about using a public access defibrillator.

It was wonderful meeting so many local people. Thank you for your support!

How goPhysio are different

Posted on 24th January 2017 by

There’s a lot of choice out there if you want to see a Physio. As a customer looking for someone to help solve your injury frustrations and get you back to enjoying an active life, it can be a bit daunting.

Unless someone has been recommended to you, you probably head straight for your computer & Google! But what do you look for?

Here’s how we’re different at goPhysio..……….

We employ all our staff

All our Physiotherapists are full time employees of goPhysio. So what you may ask? Well we think it’s a big deal. Having a team of full time employees gives us a really cohesive force. The team’s working time is fully dedicated to goPhysio – not being pulled or split between too many commitments. This means they are there to fully support you and your treatment. Our staff don’t turn up for an evening clinic having already spent a whole day working in the NHS, already exhausted!

We have a dedicated clinic, open over 60 hours a week

Our dedicated clinic is open 6 days a week, from sunrise to sunset during the week! The fact we’re open all day, every day gives you a consistent service, with appointments at a time to suit you. If you need to contact us, you can. If you need to see someone today – more often than not, you can! We’re even open on a Saturday morning if you can’t quite squeeze in an appointment during the week.

Experienced clinicians

All of our staff have a minimum of 5 years experience working as a Physiotherapist. Between us, we’ve got a combined experience of over 30 years. This experience helps get better outcomes for you, faster. The hundreds of patients they’ve seen, combined with an environment of shared knowledge creates a dynamic, progressive and problem solving environment, giving you the best possible care and service. If you come and see us at goPhysio, you won’t be seeing someone who’s recently qualified, with minimal real life experience in resolving injuries.

Range of onsite services

Whether you’re after help with an injury or being proactive about your health and physical well being, we offer a range of in-house, services all within the clinic. Our team all work very closely together, so if you want’t to carry on your rehabilitation through coming to one of our Pilates classes, the transition is seamless. If, during a sports massage, a more serious injury is picked up, you’ll be referred on to a Physio. This integrated method of care helps support you to achieve your goals.

Dedicated administration team

Our dedicated administration team are always on hand to help you. We now have over 60 hours a week of administration support at the clinic. Whether it’s booking or changing an appointment, liaising with your insurance company or sorting out a receipt for your cash back plan, they can help. It also means that our clinical staff aren’t pulled between answering the phone, booking appointments and managing diaries – they can focus on you as their patient! When our desk or phones aren’t manned, you can even book an appointment online safely and securely on our website.

Our Clinic

We’re one of the only private practices in the area that has their own, completely independent clinic and facilities. We’re not renting a room in a GP surgery or gym or reliant on third parties for long term stability. We are completely independent and in control of our facilities which gives us stability and control. We are able to continually re-invest into the clinic to offer the best facilities and experience in the area. At the end of 2016, we moved into our brand new clinic in Chandlers Ford. This is our third clinic in Chandlers Ford, each time we’ve moved we’ve doubled in size. We spent a year renovating a derelict old building and now have an amazing new space – with large, private treatment rooms, a spacious studio, rehabilitation room and air conditioning throughout for your comfort. There’s a free on site car park for your use and great local transport links. We’ve got everything you need to have a relaxed, welcoming & supported recovery.

Local, Family Business

goPhysio is a truly local, small, family business. It’s owned and managed by husband and wife team, Paul & Fiona. It was established locally back in 2001 and has grown from strength to strength ever since. Paul & Fiona not only have a business in Chandlers Ford but live here too with their 3 children, who go to school locally. They love being able to provide such a crucial and valued service in the area. You can read more about the history of goPhysio here!

Recommendations

Over 80% of our new customers come to us through a personal recommendation. Unlike many other physio’s we don’t fill our diaries with 3rd party external referrals from high volume/low cost work (which is now commonplace in the industry). So the patients that fill our diaries are there because they value the service we offer and results we achieve, they have chosen us based on the quality of service we offer. This is the biggest compliment and endorsement we can get – personal recommendations and returning customers! We even say thank you to those who refer a friend with our ‘Refer A Friend’ Scheme.

Why Is Rehabilitation Pilates different to other Pilates Classes?

Posted on 12th June 2016 by

Pilates classes are a big part of what we offer here at goPhysio in Chandlers Ford. However, the Pilates classes we run at goPhysio are a little different to others you may experience in the area. Our Pilates is in essence ‘Rehabilitation Pilates’.

Rehabilitation Pilates is different to a traditional class you may attend at the gym or local hall.

Physio Pilates Chandlers FordRehabilitation Pilates has been specifically developed for use by physiotherapists.  All of our instructors are both Charted Physiotherapists and are trained by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI), which is the world leader in rehabilitation Pilates.

Rehabilitation Pilates exercises target the deep postural muscles of the tummy and spine to improve central ‘core stability’ & posture. They also help improve spinal mobility, increase flexibility of the key trunk and leg muscle groups and improve body and postural awareness. This type of Pilates is particularly suitable for you if you suffer with back or neck pain or have suffered a specific injury. It is also a great way of preventing injuries or preparing for sport.

People who come along to our Pilates classes tend to fall into one of 5 categories:

  1. They’ve had an injury and have been seeing us for Physiotherapy. Once they are nearing recovery, they start with Pilates to both continue their recovery and help improve their physical ability to stop the injury coming back.
  2. They have been advised to start Pilates by another health care practitioner (e.g. Consultant or GP) and want to join a Physio led class to make sure they have the right support in the class and adequately experienced Instructor.
  3. They’ve suffered with back or neck pain (or other injuries) on and off for years and have heard Pilates is great to stop it re-occurring.
  4. They’ve been to another Pilates class elsewhere but felt that the class size was too big and they weren’t getting enough attention or support from the instructor. We even have people who’ve picked up an injury at other classes from doing Pilates incorrectly.
  5. They’ve just heard wonderful things about Pilates and want to experience the benefits too in a friendly, supportive environment!

As our instructors are also Physiotherapist, you have ‘on hand’ expertise ready to share their knowledge and advice at every class. They have such an extensive knowledge of the human body and also injury, so can tailor each class to the individual needs and make sure you really get the most out of it for you. The classes only ever have a maximum of 8 participants, so you are always under the watchful eye to make sure you’re doing the exercises correctly and be progressed when needed.

We also run 2 specialist Pilates classes for pregnant ladies and also new mums and their babies.

There is a real skill in getting the Pilates exercises right and this needs concentration, guidance and attention.

Take a look at our class timetable to see the classes we run at goPhysio.

Questions we’re often asked about our classes

How many people come to the Pilates classes? The numbers for each class are strictly limited to a maximum of 8. This is to ensure that we maintain a high quality class, with the instructor being able to give sufficient attention & support to each individual.

How do I book onto a Pilates class? If you want to join our classes you can give us a call at the clinic on 02380253317 or email us. We’ll help find the most suitable class for you, we’ll can chat through the booking process and organise payment for the class. Alternatively, If you are currently attending goPhysio, chat to your Physio or our Reception team, who can organise for you to attend a class.

How much do the classes cost? We normally run our courses in 8 week blocks. The cost of each 8 week course is £100.

Why do I need a 1-2-1 before I start Pilates? We do advocate that if you haven’t seen us at goPhysio before you have a 30 minute 1-to-1 pilates session, before joining a class. This will enable our Pilates Instructor to help you to get 110% out of your Pilates! This is norma;l procedure for anyone starting a Physio led Pilates course. These 1-2-1 appointments cost £35.
